Have We Really Thought Legalization Through - Part 1

After a pleasing session with the Grand Daddy Diesel, Shifty and I were struck in conversation that was initiated by the graphic image of Barack Obama puffing the nuggs in my earlier repost.

Now maybe I am playing devils advocate here, but, are we certain legalization is what we really want? I feel certain there will be devastating socio-economic fallout as a direct result of legalization, that may have not been considered or concieved of (As I am a mAd GenIOuS it is highly probable I am right too…)

First of all it will clearly shake the economy in multiple directions and be immensely destructive to our aggricultural insustry - Think about how ethenol has canabilized the production of corn as a food source…Farmers make more selling corn as energy then as a food based commidity. Without corn and grains its not just bread and microwave popcorn we loose, but our grain fed cattle, pork and poultry  production is impacted as well.  The price of feed goes up as less grain can be produced and the livestock ranchers must sucumb to the price increase inturn loosing money either by tighter margins or reduced production. the supply and consumer chain follows the same trajectory, less meat is produced and the prices must get higher, but in this economy who can afford it….this keeps going and going..you know the drill…we’ve only just started here and we have already put most of middle America on unemployment insurance.

I understand that there is an argument to this position found in the number of jobs a commercialized cannabis industry could create, however I am not convinced that is even an apples to apples comparrison until someone can show me the numbers.

As if the effect on the farming and livestock industries arent enough…Oh man what about Crime….

I will let these thoughts “resin”ate within your green  little brains for a bit while Shifty and I go and get a soon to be even more expensive corned beef club at Katz’s and deeply contemplate the life and true purpose of a matzoh ball!
